The PO-installed radiator in my S50-swapped E30 is so wide that it touches the sheetmetal on both sides; I mean it's really jammed in there. That tells me that sooner or later (probably sooner, given my luck) the mechanical stress is going to crack the plastic side tanks. What radiator are you guys using that leaves a little breathing space on the side tanks? I'd rather pony up now for a new rad than deal with the smoke (steam?) test later. Thanks!

i have the stock m42 radiator that came in my car before i started my swap. that would definitely be the cleanest installation. i find myself tending toward the e36 mz3 radiator because i think the m42 is under capacity for this engine. in comparison, the mz3 rad is probably 25% bigger just by looking at the two side by side. i was wondering if you use the spal electric to help force air through or just run the a/c fan? do you ever have overheat issues in the summer when you are sitting in a traffic jam?sigpic
