Well 12 hours and mounts don't line up

So I spent 12 hours outside working on the car today, got the engine in, and the mounts don't line up..

Passenger is fine, tranny is fine, but the driver is off by like a cm.

    I have a 91 318is, engine out of a 325i, engine mounts out of a 535.

What arms are you using? The way I did it was I started the top bolt first so it was just hanging on. Then got the bottom bolt in after that I dropped it down and everything slide into place.

I was told I put the mount in the wrong hole. There is two holes, inner and outer, I put it on the inner. One is for the nub, but if I get rid of the nub and put it in that hole it will shift it the 1 cm i need.

Thats odd. What arms are you using?

You might have the mounts upside down.

e36 325i mounts, and the mounts aren't upside down, they only go in 1 way. I'm going to try and shift the driver one out to the outer hole tomorrow. Seems to be the only logical thing.

when i did it i basically put one side in, put two nuts very loosely on. i then lifted the engine with a cherry picker and both studs to line up on the other side without any nuts, and slowly have a friend let the engine down, while you're holding the mount in place. good luck

Can you loosen up the mounts? Then once you have the motor onto the mounts, just tighten them up again. That's what my friend did and it worked.

you need the studs throught the outside holes in the subframe. the nub will go in the inner hole. basically move them out and spin them 180*. keep them sloppy loose until everything is lined up.

This is correct. Flip them 180 and they will line up fine.

I had to extend the slots in my subframe to move them further outboard. My mounts are pretty much touching the body at the base.

Yes both. I did not even have the nuts on. When I lowered the motor down I tilted the mounts to go through the mount arm holes. It seemed to set down well on the mounts. I then put on the nuts and cranked them down. When I first lined mine up they looked just like yours.

I had to make a thick washer as well because I ran out of threads on the stud.
