    e24 differential

would either a 633csi or a 635csi have an lsd?

if so would it be a medium case or large case and what would the ratio be? 3.46?

how much would it be worth?

a junkyard near me has both cars and i wanna use the diffs.

    thankx!

Side loaders. Yes, they were available with LSD.

so its not guaranteed to be a lsd. i was under the impression that because it was an cSi it would be limited slip. i see what side loader means but im still unsure as to whether it can be swapped into an e30 without major work.

It is a medium case diff. I spotted a 635CSi at the junkyard, but somebody already pulled the diff out. It will bolt up as long as you swap the rear cover to the E30 medium case rear cover, and the output shafts. These pop out and pop right back in.

If the rear end is jacked up then spin one rear wheel, if the opposite wheel spins the same way (both foreward or both reverse) it is an LSD, if opposite it is open, parking brake must be off, transmission in neutral.

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

If I remember right, all manual 6ers were equipped with limited slip units. All of the ones I've ever worked on have been, as well as the ones I've owned. Just a tip.

Hope this is not too much a thread jack but...

So will a side loader work in a e30? I have a brand new one from Metric, was planning on selling and getting another one as I thought it didnt work on a e30.

              Thanks

Ah. Early E24s used the E12 sideloader rear end, up until 9/82. Later 633s from 9/82 used a medium case diff that we are all familiar with. All 635s used a normal diff.

88-89 635csi Manuals came with the 3.64 ratio in a Medium case. A very rare diff indeed.

i may be getting a manual 85 635csi parts car to use for my m30 swap.

just want to know, did all 635csi's come with the 3.64? or 3.46? what ratio is known to be in the 85 635csi's

                    Vic.

which cars and models came with the big case?
I always though all the big six/ v12s came came with big cases.

Most likely a 3.25, though it may be a 3.46

                        I believe medium case 3.46's are mostly found on '88 528e's and late (85-87) E23 735i's.

Correct, the E23's some of them had LSD's and 3.64's were optional in E30's in EU.
