Update and help with return fuel issue

I just got finished replacing the damaged tank to see if that would resolve the issue of the fuel tank not sending fuel over to the pump side (old tank was bent on bottom and thought to have bent the transfer tube inside). Anyway, just ran a tank through it, and went to fill and it is still not transferring. (Engine is also running rich-not sending fuel back into tank).
Since I did not do this swap myself (did the tank myself-driveshaft, etc), what can be causing this? I thought the following, but need some input:
    1. Looking at the diagram from the original fuel setup, there seem to be 2 return lines to the tank-1 fo rthe main return and the 2nd going to the carbon canister/other line on top of fuel tank.

    2. Could the return line be plugged into the wrong return line (I take it from the manual there is the main return and a vent line)? If so, which line in the engine bay is the return for the fuel tank. I know the siphon in the tank works from the return pressure.

    3. I beleive the engine is running "rich" from not being able to return the fuel to tank. It runs perfect after startup, etc. Just rough for the initial 15 secs when cold then ok. Is there anything else that could be causing this (cold start sensor, etc (This is on a S52). o2 sensors were changed when swap done last summer. This problem has been since the swap. Old engine worked fine on gas. Now commuting more, having to fill up every 6-7 gal sucks.

    4. The lines under the car looked ok-I believe there were 3-1 from pump and 2 back from engine.

    5. Pump, etc works fine and the new tank looked perfect before install.

Any help would be appreciated on this. I see the connector on the back (firewall) side of the fuel rail connected to the supposed return line. I don't know where the other line is that could have been mixed up. There may be another reason that I am not coming up with but I hope someone out there can help!

BTW, the guage works on the pump side (so it is reading that side ok, but when it is showing 1/4-pump side is 1/4 and the driver side is still full.

    Thanks again!!

IMO, Sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor or a short in it's wiring. When the engine is cold, it appreciates the fuel because the fuel charge is poorly atomised. The engine runs over rich when this sensor fails . A failed sensor fools the ECU into thinking that the engine is cold. A warm engine does not want the excess fuel.
You can test it by hooking up a DVOM to it's terminals while it is suspended in ice water. Then apply heat. If it is good the resistance will change with increasing temp.
