Im having the same problem, from what I have been reading it is going along with either

      A) Bad grounding power for the DME
      B) EWS problems.

From the test light check, I would suspect bad ground. However, EWS could cause this as well.

Well from what wires that I know are the DME wires, they are hooked up well and properly grounded.

I have a feeling it has to do with the RPM signal from the C103 connector to pin 20 on the ECU. Pin 20 of the X20 connector.

i've been told to check the crank angle sensor, if this is faulty then there would be no spark or fuel

My crank POS is brand new. It ran my car before I took it out. I feel I have another problem. I have a feeling that I need to check my wiring though under the intake... Again...

i checked my crank POS as well, working fine, i fitted another one to check, still no fuel or spark, put mine onto another m3 and it works fine. I got a feeling that my dme has EWS, how will i know if it has?
                its off a s50b30........

question: if a car has EWS and is running fine, if i unplug the existing DME and plug in another one will the car start????

same question as above but also if the car does not EWS will it run with another computer box from the same model????

Make sure the relay power is hooked up and that the engine ground is good.

Maybe the fuel pump actually went out?

Do you have an S50B30 or an S50B32? You have stated both multiple times on this board.

The wiring, computers and EWS are VERY different for these motors. The S50B30 has 2 computers- one for the engine stuff, the other for the Vanos controller. The S50 B32 has the Vanos controller integrated into the DME. All S50B32s have EWS. There is no work around for the EWS. You need to find somebody that can flash it out or find an EWS box and key. You will probalby have to take it to a BWM shop to align the DME and EWS parts.

One other thing....the MZ3 harness is slightly different than the M3 harness and it requires some different things to be done to get it running. I say this because the fuel pump should come on when the key is in position 2 no matter if the EWS is aligned or not.

I have a b32 bottom end with the b30 top, camshafts , single vanos etc. also b30 wiring harness and 2 computer boxes.

i have just got hold of the ews parts.... would i still have to align the ews to the dme altough i have everything of the same donor car?

Sorry to say, but you are going to need to find either a really good shop that can tune a stock DME for you (probably a 3L DME) or go stand alone. A stock solution is not going to work for that setup. If you try to use the stock 3L DME you are going to run lean....running lean for an extended period of time = BOOM!

why do you say that it would run lean?
