Pretty sure the cut it and tapped it at home,
It should be painless since the rod is the correct size already.
Also still wanting to see what jrdeamicis did to his.

Did you guys cut/thread the rod at home?? I've taken it to a parts guy, and machine shop - they both make it out to be a big deal since it's attached to the booster. They want to use a lathe.
1, there is no easy way to remove the rod correct? (I tried to remove the one on my 325is booster to see if I could swap the rods instead of shortening the ix, but that didnt go so smooth)
2, What exactly did you do/use to shorten yours since the base of the rod is so much thicker than the upper part that's threaded?
Hope this can be done at home.. really want this car running tonight/tomorrow!!Last edited by MIKe30; 09-18-2009, 04:53 PM.Leave a comment:

no problems with the brake lines fitting if you mount the booster stright to the firewall?Leave a comment:

Mossman, did you have any clearance issues with the resevoir/intake tubing?By the way guys e36 masters fit, I think 325i's have 23ish mm masters and M3's have 25-26mm, with the 96-99 m3's having the biggest of the bunch. realoem tells you the bore size when you look it up, too late and I'm too sleepy, but I love my IX booster installed with factory spacer thing, 98 m3 master and e36 m3 front brakes.Leave a comment:

took bracket off.
drilled two of the mounting holes in the firewall to make them bigger. (will only use two bolts to mount booster)
cut and thread the rod since it will be too long for the brake pedal now.

So what did you do here? Cut that spacer plate and weld in back together without the space? Pictures?Leave a comment:

So if you take the adapter plate off the booster. Cut out the center section and weld the two plates together and to the booster you can fit a finger between the manifold and the booster and the rod works great.Leave a comment:

Here is the clearance. Had to grind just the fins off the rear of the manifold. Running IE yellow poly motor mount bushings with no spacers.
