S54 swap cranks but won't start

Hey guys need some help, tried to start the car, it cranks but won't turn over. I removed the fuel line to the rail and no fuel, I don't hear fuel pump priming, I'm pretty sure I have all power and grounds connected, fuses and relay good. Any ideas?

Car is an 89m3 duel fuel pump system, using stock e46m harness and ecu.

I've checked fuses and relays they're good, power wires, grounds 5 grounds total all connected. The inline fuel pump is a Bosh044 and it was tested before installing, two wires a positive and negative. I also checked the crank sensor and that's good, so is there anything else to check?

What fuel pump relay did you end up using? And how is it wired up?

It takes a little while to bleed the S54 fuel system so that the rail is filled up.

I would jump the fuel pump relay to check if the pumps function at all. If memory serves, the dual pump system is powered simultaneously off the same wiring. They should fire at the same time.

Thanks for responding, I have Andrews Adpater harness so it uses the e46m3(brown) fuel pump relay. My problem is that there's no fuel coming for the pumps at all, I disconnected the fuel line that goes to the rail and its dry. I can hear the intank pump prime when I step on the gas pedal, as for the external pump, I tested it and it works before install.

How do I jump the fuel pump on the e46 relays?

I think I've found my answer within my words, I said above that I'm using the e46m3(BROWN) relay when actually it's black and the brown is the wiper relay hahaha wow I'm an idiot!

With the correct fuel pump relay in, I can now hear both pumps prime but still no start and no fuel in line. So I'm gonna pull the external pump back out to see what's up.

Updat: I'm not getting fuel through the external pump, the intank lift works and fuel is coming up but it's not going by the external pump, any ideas?

Yes. It will take a lot of priming to get fuel up to the rail. I would ensure fuel flows all the way to the rail first, by disconnecting the output hose of the Bosch 044 and putting it into a container on the ground that is safe to fill with a few ounces of fuel.

Then, in the engine bay, to jump terminal 30 to 87 to power both pumps simultaneously using an insulated jumper wire. You should be able to see the pinout of the fuel pump relay on the side of the fuel pump.

Exercise caution, because the fuel will pour out very quickly given the flow rate of your setup. The last thing you want is for anything to go wrong and catch stuff on fire.

I did this but took pump off and put it in a bucket works fine, I also ran the intank pump without the external and it works also.

I jumped it and let it sit for awhile then pulled feed line to rail and still no fuel...whaaaaa?!? I'm frustrated, doesn't make any sense :/ I sprayed starter fluid and it starts up but dies immediately.

So wait, does the 044 in a bucket work fine?

Pull the feed line to the fuel rail and put it in a bucket so that the air has somewhere to go.

Dont laugh.....but I had the Bosh pump fighting with the intank pump, I had the connections labled wrong smh. So now it's flowing like a garden hose to the rail but still no start :(

Update: Car started up, I tested for spark and it was pretty low so touched around to the injector harness and....click! harness wasn't fully pressed in.

Thanks for the help Fredk appreciated :)

Yea man, I checked every, power, ground, fuse, relay, sensor and nothing, it's crazy how just to simple things are over looked, well at least my wiring is clean and tucked away now haha.

I'll have them soon as car is completely functional and road ready. Still need to install AC, Exhuast and power steering lines.
