Hm, this is really a strange issue!
Two long shot items that you can try out before getting another DME is checking the continuity of the pedal wiring to the DME, and checking the plastic linkage that runs between the throttle servo motor and the throttle plates themselves. I've found that it pops of with little to no force as it gets older, and it might have just popped off. Also, check that it moves freely because sometimes if you clock the Oetiker clamps the wrong way, it interferes with the free travel of the linkage.
