    With some luck....

    I'll buy a E34 M5 donor car next week...

This swap isn't exactly well documented, anyone here done the swap? some ideas or things you would have done differently would be great to hear.

e34 m5 is a s38. my friend is putting 1 in his e30 m3 now. he had to order custom mounts from germany, im sure some others have fabbed up their own. also i hear something needs to be done with the cooling hoses. not too much help really, i just no it doesn't use the same stuff as a m/s50 swap.

It's probably identical to an M30 swap, geometrically anyway. Prepare to fab up or buy motor mount arms and hammer your firewall. Other than that, I think it's pretty much the same as an M5x swap... just going by what I've seen/heard though. If I'm right, check this out:

except for the cost of the motor, as well as the cost to maintain it. props though i've always loved the s38.
