I ended up having to go the Ground Control route. It costs a bit because their front IX-specific camber plates don't work with stock/OE size springs, so I am doing a coilover conversion with their kit and then using Bilstein struts that the previous owner of my IX had purchased. Have been going back and forth with GC support for a couple of weeks trying to get it figured out, as I had always thought a coilover conversion involves a lot of cutting and welding of the front strut housing, but they say there is no need. I saw someone else say that you can shorten your strut housing in order to help the geometry or get more travel, but I haven't seen it myself. The GC route is seemingly the only thing left for these IX front strut mounts, as originals are harder to find and are still nearly 40-year-old rubber. -
I've run the Ground Control upper mounts on a race car for years and wouldn't hesitate to use them on a street car. They're reasonably priced when you consider cost/availability of stock ones and totally modular/replaceable if individual pieces wear out. I usually end up deforming the main plate after a few years on our rally car and they're more than happy to send me new ones without having to replace the whole unit.Leave a comment:

I dont have any more spare ix shock, when if recall i have old ix upper strut mount. I mean it would be very easy test how that rwd upper strut mount would fit on ix shock and how off those studs are from ix shock tower. When few new bolt holes is nothing to drill for ix body, when if there is not different then studs vs bolt hole different´s, i would start to use rwd upper strut mounts in ix, when market is full rwd parts..If coilovers is not option.
Coilover install, you need to cut shock insert and weld, my current bc racing shock is not perfect for my ix, but i guess rwd bc racing coilover kit would be better, when front shock is way longer then ix set has. It should be possible to lower little bit from ix ride high with rwd bc racing coil set. I would want to test that, but i dont have spare money right now

I'm having the same issue with my 325ix. I can see the rubber at the top of the shock mount is tearing which makes me nervous especially since I daily the car. I already have the bilstein sport suspension kit for the car ready to go and I figured I'd be able to find the mounts or at least similar ones but nothing looks the same. Also from what I've seen, installing coilovers is a very rough process with the IX correct?Leave a comment:

The ground control ones are tempting. First I have a friend with a laser scanner. We're going to scan the disassembled strut mount to get a CAD file to hopefully send it to send cut send, they'll cnc parts at a reasonable price in a short timeframe. The part is pretty damn simple, I have a good feeling about it, well see.Leave a comment:

The strut mounts for the 325ix are unique and have their own part number. 31331701167. You can't get them anywhere. The only option as of now is going to coilovers which I'm not interested in yet. There's no aftermarket options. Although I don't totally understand what the difference is between ix and rwd. They definitely look quite different.Leave a comment:

Strut mount options
I'm replacing every part of my front suspension as it has all turned to rust. I have everything I need except I can't source strut mounts and I have looked everywhere. I'm now emailing ground control to see if their camber plates can work with the ix without going with their coilover springs, but I sont have faith.
I'm running koni yellows and h&r sport springs. Anyone know where I can get decent OEM or the OEM offset version or of any aftermarket/camber plates solution? Mine are too rusty to even put back together. If I can't find anything I might have a friend laser scan and get a cad model to see what send cut send could make. Thanks for any help!Tags: None
