    Transmission Problem

I have an 89 ix auto (I know, I know). I noticed after about 3k miles the transmission needed about a qt of fluid. I checked and it looks like the leak is coming from between transmission and the transfer case. I checked the transfer case and it is full and not coming from the weep-hole. Also I replaced the pan gasket and filter (fluid looks great and taste like chicken). Is there a seal or something else in the back of the transmission that may be leaking? Thanks

It could be, but isn't that where the transfer case bolts-up on ix models? If I remember correctly when you take the transfer case off there is no gasket there and only 2 seals in the transfer case for the output shaft.

that is a depiction of the IX auto trans. the xfer case is connected on the other face of #15. The seal #21 is in the trans. Removing the xfercase will not expose this seal.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner I was working. I found a picture of an auto trans, I think it is #21 because #15 does not exist on an ix as the TC boltz directly to the trans at #21 as you can see in the picture. Today I went to move the car out of the garage and take some pictures and fluid was pouring out like the drain plug was pulled. I want to fix this soon, but the weather here has been in the upper 90’s and my garage is not climate controlled and the ix is a third car for me.

you can link it using the picture tool and just paste the URL direct to the picture. its gotta be on a picture site like photobucket or actually on a webpage somewhere.
