    Check Engine light

MY cars check engine light comes on randomly. I did like my bentley manual said and turned the key two clicks and my light blinks twice then stays on. Any ideas? The manual says oxygen sensor. I'd like to know if it may be something else first before I drop a lot of money on a new oxygen sensor. THanks.

O2 sensors aren't that expensive as far as these car's can go. Off the top of my head anywhere from 70 - 180 (I could be way high on the #)

You mean the panel in the roof when you say check panel right? If thats what you mean mine doesn't work. What is the cheapest place to get an 02 sensor?

Cheap isn't always the answer with these cars. You need to make sure the parts you buy are of good quality and OEM material or better. If you buy something cheap you'll just be replacing it within the year.

Just b/c bentley says... First run the check light and find what code or codes it's got. Replacing the o2 might only cure the symtoms not the problem.

              Do that.

              if it flashes 1, 4, 4, 4.
Then your straight, or your diagnostic's aren't picking up the problem.

You can do a voltage check on the sensor to make sure its working. If so you might have an air boot or vacuum leak some where.

Do I need to do a stomp test? or would it give me a better idea of my problem?

Ya, do the stomp test, it will give you a code you can work with.
If it doesnt work the first time, try it again. Make sure to wait a few seconds for it to start blinking. If it still doesnt work, you might have a bad TPS.

to do the stomp test you put the key in the second posisition and press the pedal 5 times then right down the pattern of the code that shows correct?
