? about checking AWD system w/ car doesn't run

Can I jack up a corner and try to turn the wheel... Or would it be better to jack up both rear wheels and try to turn a single wheel? How would this make sense?

I know a failing AWD 325ix unit will send power to the wheel that doesn't have traction?

Can/how this be tested on a car that is currently not running?

Help us out... what do you mean by "not running"? What were the circumstances under which these non-running first occurred.

The traditional jack test that is used on IXs is jacking both rear wheels by the differential. There is a good video on youtube.

If you jack the rear end up, and can spin both rear tires the same direction, then your viscous coupling is probably bad.

This isn't a very meaningful test, though. If you can't turn them by hand, it doesn't necessarily mean your VC is good either.

timing belt broke... head needs to be replaced... so I want to prove to people that it does work... and therefore I'm looking for a meaningful means of showing that it is in working order lol since I already know it works.

Ahhhh... your title makes more sense now, when I read it that way.

          No clue.
