    rattling/grinding noise from drivetrain

Hey everyone, was wondering if I could get a little help.
I have a 89 IX that has been making some bad noises. The noise only occurs when I am accelerating, or cruising at a constant speed and hit a bump. the noise does not occur when the car is cold, only once it has started to warm up. The best way I can describe it is a "clicking-rattling-knocking" noise coming from underneath the ebrake console area, maybe a bit farther back. The noise increases its clicking frequency as the car's speed increases. It does not seem to affect drivability or acceleration but it certainly has me worried. A quick check underneath revealed nothing. any ideas?

    thank you

For anyone that is interested. Pulled off the front driveshaft and inspected it. The splines were good on the shaft and the transfer case. I drained the t-case to check for metal shards, fluid came out clean. Once I refilled the t-case the noise went away. It is suspected that my t-case chain is loose and was tapping on the side of the t-case. Filled all the way full with fluid it was silenced. So anyone have a similar problem.. might want to check the t-case chain.

    cheers
