    rear driveshaft removal

So Im swapping gas tanks and cannot for the life of me get the slip collar on the drive shaft to budge. Just to make sure, its supposed to go clockwise toward the rear of the car right? Tried both ways to be sure but that thing wont budge. Been soaking it for two days now in PB and nothing, don't want to use heat next to the leaky tank.
    Thanks - Will

This is a problem I can sympathize with you. My IX was a rustbucket from RI and I couldn't get the rear driveshaft out either. No amount of leverage was going to break it free and I was afraid to use heat under there also. I ended up unbolting the rear differential and lowering it down a bit until the other end cleared the transfer case and removed it in one piece.
