    Getrag 260 in the ix?

I believe my transmission synchros are on their way out so i'm trying to source parts for the future.

Is there any difference between a transmission from a 325is vs. 325ix?

Yes, there is a front half, and a rear half to the case on you IX gearbox. The front is not truly a "bell housing", but the 325 and the IX share that part.

The back half however on the IX has a different part number, and in fact, it is quite different in that you guys bolt on the transfer case to it, so it is cast to be able to bolt that case on.

I know a guy locally that could merge the two gearboxes for you, and you could then buy a 325 one, (hope its good), and have the cases switched to make it all work.

Realoem makes this clear if you use their parts search....

I learned about this issue because I need to work with my IX gearbox as its found in my Z1....torque tube in my case, not a transfer case.

I have a good IX manual tranny and can ship, would probably be cheaper and easier than splitting the case.
