    iX wheel bearing ?'s

    Hey guys

    Two quick questions...

First, does the iX have a snap ring holding the wheel bearing in the trailing arm? (i.e. #2 in the pic/link below)

They don't list it as applying to the iX, and when I asked the guy at the dealership why, he said "oh the snap ring comes with the bearing" so like an idiot I believed him. The snap ring definitely does NOT come with the bearing (I should have checked before I left the dealership. damn). SO does the iX just not have one? I took the rotor off the other day to take a look at what I was up against, and I could have sworn I saw one in there (it was hard to tell with the shitty lighting in behind the hub though, so I could have been imagining I guess). If it does have this snap ring, where in the world do I get one as BMW certainly doesn't seem to want to give me one.

Second question is, are there any major differences in a rear wheel bearing job between a RWD and iX? Again when I took a looksee the other day I honestly couldn't tell a bit of difference, but I'd like to be certain. I'm assuming the job will be basically similar to this:

Thanks to my iX brethren. I'm slowly getting the old girl together (just bought a T-case to manual swap it :D) for DD duties.

Well, got the new bearing in. Took me about an hour at most. No special tools to get the hub and bearing out except a slide hammer. Put the bearing in the freezer for about 4 hours and it slid almost halfway in by hand. A BIG ass c-clamp along with an assortment of different size washers got it the rest of the way in, along with the hub. The axle popped right in the splines enough to get the axle nut on it and pull it the rest of the way in with the air gun. Anyone with any questions feel free to PM me, with the right stuff it really isn't too hard, and with a little bit of enginuity (sp?) you don't need the expensive wheel bearing tool.

Oh, and I used the same snap ring that came off the car, as I came up dry on finding a new one in limited time.
