i need help on my ix project!

has anyone ever heard of making a regular 325 in to an is by just swaping all the drivetrain over? if so how hard would it be? my cousin is willing to give me his 90 325ix with 100k on it but he fliped it and smashed it pretty bad it would cost way too much to fix it but id like to use the drivetrain to make another e30 awd.

its a 4door ix can i put it in my 2 door is?
or can i put it in to a 4 door 325i?
    please give me ur input!

Sorry, don't think so. Too many differences. Strut towers sit at different angles, front subframe is completely different (sits much further forward, so much so that the R&P is behind the subframe). Your best bet would be to take your cousin's car (assuming he's just giving it to you) and find a iX roller to put the drivetrain in. OR, sell it for parts, sell your i, and buy a running driving iX...

Be patient and check the usual sources (forums, craigslist, ebay) EVERY day. The biggest thing is patience though. Being impatient will SCREW you when you are looking at buying cheap, older cars such as these. Sit tight, search constantly, and the right one will fall in your lap.

Finding a clean shell is going to be tough. The drivetrains and mechanicals long outlast the bodies of these cars. The majority of them were sold where four wheel drive is needed, Northeast, Midwest, etc. so most were subjected to the salt and have rusted out.
