Hey guys back again. my brake lights wont work when the brake is pressed. i read online that it could be the brake light switch but i have no idea where it is at. any suggestions on what the problem could be? im in need of an answer as soon as possible. THanks

1989 325iX brake lights not working!

It's in front of the brake pedal arm. When the pedal is pressed, the arm moves away from the switch and closes the circuit. It's tough to explain, but if you take off the pedal set cover (or whatever it's called) under the steering wheel, you'll see what I'm talking about. Early cars had adjustable switches, but ours are not. I had a problem recently when I changed out brake boosters. The input shaft to the booster was not back far enough on the threads to open the circuit by engaging the switch. So I drove around for a whole day with my brake lights continuously on. Whoops. Easy fix though.
