Leaking transfer case

I've had the rear output seal replaced 2 times in the past few months because it appeared to be leaking large amounts of fluid from that area. The breather vent (plastic part) was also replaced because it was cracked. The work was done by a very reputable mechanic. He asked me to have another shop look at the car. The 2nd shop traced the leak to the breather vent. They say it looks fine, but don't understand why it is puking out fluid either. Any of you folks have any experience with this issue before?

There was a guy on e30tech who did his own work and had to do the seal twice as well.
