    Lower control arms, and balljoints

If you don't take the time to read my rambling, my question is can iX lower control arm ball joints be pressed out and replaced? And to prerespond to any answers concerning- I have every tool I could possibly need at my disposal, including a 20ton press.

So my ball joints are shot, I mean like almost .015 play. MitchellOne says I'm in for two new lower control arms which is looking to be almost 600 after shipping. This is not something I like the sound of, and I don't have AllData to check for a second opinion.

I have "heard" from some fairly knowledgeable sources who seem to be convinced that my current ball joints can be pressed out, followed by new ones being pressed in. I was formerly under the impression that molded in ball joints are not R&R-able. Obviously this would be ideal as my control arms themselves look awesome, I mean literally flawless, and even at 240k I'm all over green on the alignment rack.

actionpod, did you end up pressing your own ball joints? I'm interested to know how it went, and if you think you're procedure could be easily replicated by a machine shop.
