    Howling from front right

Hey guys, something has started to howl from the front right. It starts after the car has been driving for a few blocks, and goes away when I put on the brakes or steer one way or the other. It isn't the wheel bearing because I replaced that thinking it was the problem. Any ideas?

Maybe the brake pad vibrating in the caliper?

What you describe sure sounds like wheel bearing.

yeah. I thought it was the wheel bearing for sure. In fact, I replaced it twice thinking maybe the guy somehow put it in wrong. To make things more confusing, the noise went away for about a week after each bearing replacement. I was thinking that since I didn't lube the splines, maybe the axle is somehow sliding in out and making noise due to an imbalanced wheel, but I think that's a long shot. Another guy said that it could be the pads, too, so I'll check it out this weekend. Maybe there's a rock or something like that stuck in there...

Does the sound increase on turns? I'm thinking you have a warped rotor which is removed after each wheel bearing replacement which would solve your noise issue for a while.

I think you have a caliper that drags or sticks.

I ended up bleeding the brakes and it went away. Thanks, guys.
