    Rear Drive Shaft

So I'm replacing my rear drive shaft on my iX and I need to know how to extend it.

unscrew that big nut toward the back end. it holds a rubber packing that uses friction on the expansion splines to hold in place. once it is loosened up, you should be able to move it around by hand. since your driveshaft is probably new, it has likely been balanced. do not pull the driveshaft apart so much that it pulls out of the splines. it will be tough to put it back in the correct index and will be out of balance.
