Rear Wheel Bearing, known weekness on the IX?

I replaced the left rear wheel bearing for approx. 9 months ago.

Now I imagine that it is about to break (it's a very early stage, I can feel that something is about to break when I drive, plus, and it feels like a little slack in the wheel).

Anybody know if this is something that is typical of IX, possibly only E30?

Or have I done a bad job when I changed? I was very careful to have done it several times before, but is just a hobby mechanic.

    So here maybe your answer...

I replaced both of my rear wheel bearings at 120K about 3-4 months later the LR bearing started sounding like it had 100k on it!

Took it to an BMW (independent) mechanic and sure enough the bearing had gone bad. Baffled I asked how that could be. Answer... When reinstalling the hub, you need to brace the back of the bearing. Otherwise you will push out the inner race of the bearing. Not enough to fail immediately, it will fail eventually.

    Hope this helps

*Pictures are of my second bearing. All I did to brace it from the back was use the smallest bearing puller plate and used it as a backing so that the hub was literally sandwiched into the bearing. 20K later no issues!

    [/SIGPIC]"we are so totally screwed!"
