    Are outer balljoints IX specific?

    Trying to fix my friends IX because the right outer balljoint had failed. He ordered the balljoint from a local auto parts store and the stud on the ball is too small. Its also a 19mm nut vs. The 22mm I removed. Was he given a non IX balljoint?

                  how do you change the ball joints? is it hard to do?

                      you have to remove control arms and use a hydraulic press with adapters to remove/install new ball joints, not hard to do but most people dont have access to a press.so they take them to a machine shop and have them do it usually doesnt cost much.
