!! remember it is only the front wheel-wells that have limited room up front,
I have some 17" ..17x7.5 et38 and you can slip about 2-3 playing cards between the brake calipers & the wheel, even these are slightly poked out.

One of the best performance upgrades for an ix is to get really light wheels

Probably one one the nicest set-ups would be your AEZ Radon
The fronts are [hard to find] available in a ..35 offset.
If you use your fronts:

those rims will fit easily :D i had 15x7 et13 with 205/55 tyres and they scracthed little to fender.... im thinking 17x10 et35 next8-)

I bought it off a guy living downtown Toronto, i've always been a wagon man and I really wanted an E30, so it all fell into place.

I guess I would be better off doing 7x15 30mm offset I guess. I just thought the wider wheels would look nicer on a wagon.

do you think I should make it under the fenders alright? are there any pictures of IX's with 8 inch wide wheels??

They are going to poke out alot in the front....Where & when did you acquire an IX touring??

they will be pretty close but they should fit. You might rub at full lock when turning the fronts. I wouldn't go much wider that 235s though. That would be 5.9" of back spacing, the same back space as the wheels in my sig and they fit on a stock ix
