    California IX Catalytic Convertor

My cat passes emissions but makes horrible noise and is loud causing the car to vibrate and sound like a pickup truck. Tiny holes in it too. Replacement quoted from Phaedrus for stock Cat + Stock exhaust = $2800ish. The connections between both are rusted a bit and so are the pipes so i'll need them.

I'm in California so those fat cat liberals in Sacramento who hate cars, car manufacturers, and car enthusiasts require me to have a special CA legal one. Those are tough to find. Also cat in most catalogs is IX specific.

What would you do in my situation?

I'd rather go with a custom, funner, cheaper exhaust anyway but the Cat... that's the tough part.

Find a muffler shop and let them have at it.
When I lived in long beach, I had a complete exhaust from cat to muffler tips done for $400 or so. It will be CA compliant.
