1989 e30 325ix engine problem some help

My 89 325ix has a little problem that I'm not sure what could it be. After driving it for a while the engine accelerates on it's on then after like five minutes it's cuts off and it won't start any more til hours later. I have change the distributor

Fuel pump? it sounds like that your running on thin mixture..
and it doesnt start later.. not enough pressure?

I would start by cleaning the throttle body and idle control valve.
