Repainted my set of basketweaves. Have a look.

So, I've never painted a set of wheels before, but figured I would give it a shot. Got these used off a board member last fall, and they sat in my garage all winter. I cleaned them up with simple green as best I could, then used a homemade soda blaster to really clean them up.

It worked really well, and for all four wheels only used about half the bag.
Didn't take any pics of it after the soda blasting, but it worked really well. I bought some 2 cans of wurth silver paint, and a can of clear coat.
Here is the result. I do have the bbs center caps with roundels, so they will be complete.

I'm fairly happy with the result. They look a million times better than they did before. BUT, the clear coat didn't really go on very well, and they are not shiny and glossy, they do look very silvery and metallic though, so screw it, I'm done, and they are getting tires put on tomorrow.

Very nice man. Is 1 can enough? I saw that they're almost 25 each.
    And is the clear necassary?

I did this once. Never again. Too much work.

The key is to use self-etching primer, lightly sand, and use Duplicolor Wheel Paint and clearcoat.

Blaster set up. 1 Costco size bag of baking soda. 1 plastic hose. Air compressor with small long skinny tip. Cut hole 6" from end of hose. Insert air tip in hole. Tape screw driver to hose and air handle (keeps hose straight). Put other end of hose in bag of baking soda. Shoot at wheels. Drink beer.
Give the else a good wash with the hose and a brush to get any residue off. That's all I did.
          Oh, drink another beer.

I would us 2 cans of paint on the wheels, you want to make sure you get good coverage in all the nooks and crannies. I painted them tilted against a wall, and after each coat, would rotate the wheel 1/3,and after about 5 coats, I was almost out of paint, and coverage was complete. I used most of the one can of clear coat as well the following day, but they don't really have that clear coat shine, so, that's all I can say about that. Still pretty happy with it, wheels look sparkly and new.

Here is the car with the wheels on, ski rack swapped out for bike rack, and the sunroof has been fixed. What I'd really like to do next is a lazerblau paint job. But that ain't happenin...
