    Transfer Case (Auto) Diagnostic

Just got done pulling out the transfer case out of my '89 325IX. The PO let it run dry and the front input shaft seals leak like crazy. I'm going to replace that seal, but I'm not sure what else to look for to confirm if my transfer case is saveable or if I'm going to do better by replacing it..

Here's what I've checked (and not checked)so far:
    1. When it was on the car, I did the jack-up-one-front-wheel-test and try to turn it. Seems strong and difficult to turn (which I'm told is a good thing).
    2. Didn't get to do the jack test.
    3. Drain plug had minimal debris on the magnet. (see picture below)
    4. Car seemed to run/drive fine (no weird noises, etc).

I took a video of the front output bearing sound when turning the rear output shaft. Is the bearing too noisy? I've never heard one before on the bench to compare it to.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Get some fluid in there and see if it's still as noisy
