    e30 325ix no start/other issues

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Picked up an 89 325ix auto and it's not running. I've replaced the ignition coil, crankshaft sensor and it came with 2 dme's. It just cranks really fast, has fuel. Along with the no start, the wipers, radio and fog lights don't work, could this be related? Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Possibly. Compression was ran by previous owner, around 125 on all 6 cylinders. Whats good compression run on these? However wouldn't I have spark even if timing belt broke? Also some accessories not working. Got the car for $800 so have room for engine swap if needed.

on a cold engine which hasn't run for awhile 125psi might be it (usually around 160-180 on a good warm engine) so it tells you something is going on in there ,thats if you believe the previous owner,. you might have spark on one cyl with a broken cam belt but not on the others as the ditributor rotor wont be going around if cam isnt turning.

i would start with the basic just to eliminate them so you not chasing your tail. look in oil fill hole while cranking to see if cam turns , do a compression test to confirm its decent enough to actually start , do you have power and control signal at coil?

Did compression test today, 135-145 across the board.

Can see the engine turning inside oil cap when cranking. I think it's odd also that certain accessories aren't working also.

Unsure if getting fuel now as well.

compression is a good sign , now its time to check for power at coil ,main/fuelpump relays , do you have a way to check for spark? spark tester or you can put plugs on wires and ground them to engine while cranking?

do you have the ETM for the car if not download here

Only thing I've done is use test light to check for power. I have power at the fuel pump and at the ignition coil. Power goes no further than the igntion coil. Thinking I'm going to swap the ignition/rotary button from my other e30 and see what happens. Can't hear fuel pump either, may swap that also. I don't have anything other than the test light to check for spark/power. The spark plug coils didn't have power.

Got the car running and running great, was the fuel relay. Now just have to figure out why the windshield wipers, radio and fogs aren't working. Getting there! We now have a nice $800 running ix!
