    Steering guibo too thick?

I pulled what I thought was the right part number using my VIN # on realoem for a new steering guibo (under the dash). Turns out the new part was significantly thicker and wouldn't allow the nut to thread .

Can anyone confirm the right part #? I have a 1990 airbag car

This is a pic of the replacement guibo which didn't fit

Which guibo? According to RealOEM, there are two guibos, one above and one below the universal joint. Here is the upper one which indeed does have a different part # than the one you bought.

I think realoem is wrong for once w this diagram. I followed the pics in the diagram and the part I bought matches the location of the picture on their site. The one u linked me I didn't see at all. That would mean there are two u-joints based on both pics?

Sure could be possible. That was one of my thoughts also but didn't see anything in the notes about production dates.

Did you pull the steering rack to get that out?

I received the wrong one too based on realoem. I swapped the metal sleeves so the thicker quibo could still be used. It's not perfect but t works. As you tighten the nut sinks into the rubber around the nut so you loose surface area to tighten it. Nothing for the wrench to help on to. I decided to try and use it and if it presents a problem I'll order the right thickness based on the old one I pulled out.
