What does cut ABS wires do to the brakes?

Hey guys, been working on the ix trying to get it going again and while up on the lift I was taking note of the fact the previous owner cut the wires to the ABS sensors on the wheels. I remember him mumbling something about the light staying on, so I guess I am trying to figure out how having those wires cuts affect the normal use of the brakes. Any ideas?

What would have made the light stay on? If the light stays on is there a way to find out if it is one wheel having the problem or do you have to replace all sensors to find the bad one?

If any component of the ABS system is not working, then the light goes on and the ABS sytem will be disengaged. The pevious owner of your car is a 100% moron thinking that by cutting the ABS sensor wire it will make the light disapear. Duh...
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Well I got the same impression. I checked out the wiring where it was cut and it looks like there is enough play to splice it back together. Even though I don't know if it will help find the problem or not. But does cutting those wires have any effect on the braking of the car?

The only effect will be the absence of ABS.

To find the issue it will eventually lead to getting out a multimeter and your electrical drawings to do some testing. But you can start by wiring that cut one together, cleaning the teeth on the axle that the sensor would see(clogged teeth appear as a lockup to the computer).
After, check voltages and where the power is and should be.
No signal - from a cut wire or faulty sensor - will fault the computer. A bad fuse or relay can disable the computer.
There may be an internal fault in the computer.
All of these things will cause the light to come on.
