    Vent window rear moulding trim separation

    Hey everyone.
    Repainting my entire car and hoped this little detail may help someone down the road wanting to safely separate the metal trim from the rear vent window moulding.

    The retainer clips are much like other trim retainers on later model BMW, with an expansion pin in the middle.

    I was able to easily remove the metal trim part with zero distortion.
    Sure, I could have just masked this part but I am really OCD about details like this!

    I pressed the pin back as far as it would go and was able to lightly heat the area and pry it off without damaging the clips themselves. Click image for larger version

    Of course, the retainer grommets that are on the body will be shot if the metal comes off with the part that extends off the trim piece (as in above photo) but they are readily available (PN 51131870459), I think I got a bag of 100 for like $5.
