Need to stop a few small rust spots on the body.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have been faced with an issue of epic proportions.

While working on and around the trunk of my E30 I have discovered a few areas of rust and need to get them resolved.

I do not have enough cash to paint the car, but need the rust stopped immediately to prevent any more body damage. I have a few spots of rust around the trunk seal area and a leaky trunk from the gutter are of the trunk lid. A crack is in the rain gutter on the body and its rusting a little bit.

I also have some rust around the right tail light, some rust around the left rear window and a little bit under the sun roof area.

None of the rust mentioned above is all the way thru.

Are there any knowledgeable and detail oriented shops in the Atlanta area were I could take my car to stop this rust issue?

I need help before I have a major problem!

    Thanks R3V!

Rust encapsulator is your friend. Very easy to use too, just make sure you put some plastic wrap on the bottom of the lid when you get done with it (and want to use it later,) as it will get stuck to the can and is impossible to reuse.

Can POR 15 be sanded after it has dried?

Sanding POR-15, from what I've heard, isn't easy. But, when I applied it on my own car (mainly just spot treatment) I had no reason to sand it; just use a thick enough coat to cover the area, but not too much and it shouldn't be a problem.

I LOVE this stuff. It is pretty tough once it gets applied to a properly prepped surface. I actually think it's pretty close to powercoating as far as how well it sticks/looks when fully cured. But it can be sanded and painted over with no problem.
