Late model trim on early model?

Has anyone ever put the late model side trim on an early model? I compared them today, the rear quarter trim is slightly longer than the early model. I was thinking I could just trim it down a little bit, what do you think?

Trimming it down will be a bitch since it's rubber, it will be a pain in the ass to shape.

I would just do like I just did, and Plasti-Dip the trim. It will look OEM, and all you'll be left with is the little insert, but black.

I think it looks better, gives it a little detail.

I put late model all black side trim on my '87 vert. The front and door parts are a drop in fit - the rear works, but the rearmost mounting point is different - so I had to drill a hole to make it fit. No big deal - very pleased with the result.

Janderson's solution is probably easier and cheaper for the same end result.

Not to mention, if it ever gets fucked up, you peel it off and re-apply.

        Plasti-Dip = Miracle in a can.
