Is buying the paint shops "house brand" paint a bad idea? Total materials to paint my car (I already have primer) -sandpaper etc is $180. That actually makes painting my car a much more realistic goal than originally thought. Anybody else do this? I'm not looking for a show car btw, just something decent looking.

There is nothing wrong with buying house brand style, ya its not Dupont or PPG, but hey it doesn't have to be. As long as you do all your prep work, stay clean and do everything how it should be done you can have a great looking product even with not the most expensive paints. It won't last maybe as long as the others but as long as you take care of it and do your part afterward to maintain there is no reason to why it shouldn't last you the life time you own the car.
http://www.smartshoppersinc.com/ you can get stuff from here for pretty cheap if you're on a budget.
