pushing in diving boards????

    i just did this last week. took me less than 5 mins. I got a small metal drill bit, drilled under the shock, once you break threw you can hear teh bust of air pressure. I didnt see any oil from the front. I drilled the back the same as soon as i hear teh air bust out my arm and side of my face was sprayd with that crap oil. after that i found a nice wall backed up really slow . once the bumper was on teh wall you just give a lil gas and drop teh clutch slow and u hear a pop and now your bumprs are tucked and oil is everywhere. did the same for teh front. You best bet if you do this ( wall push ) goto a empty open public parking lot so you can leave them a nice mess , :D

            do you have a valence its a little different, but yeah i need to get one i was using my buddys electric drill and dull bits equals several hours,plus i didn't know about the forums back then.

            and why the fuck is the bumper so hard to get off,

              i have a 84 and the valence is very small. i didnt take off teh bumpers, i just laied under teh front drilled the two front shocks, then drilled the two back. found a nice wall and pushed them. thats pretty much it. i need to push the back more tho. my front is tucked ALOT the back not so much, ill get picks tonight

                that's weird do you have a pic of the bit or what size bit you used.i still need to do the back bumper,then paint them black.

                  you what. when i 1st tried it i used a bigger bit maybe the size of a BB , it was gold colord so i figured it was for metal. i couldnt break threw so i found a smaller sized bit maybe the size of a speaker wire and it cut right threw. you know your thew when you hear the air shoot out and see oil everywhere

                        If you guys are so worried about safety why do you drive 20 year old shitboxes? Shouldn't you be looking for a certified used volvo or something?

                              One tip: Some people might suggest this route:
                              -Remove the bumper
                              -Remove the shocks
                              -Drill them where you can easily trap the oil and not make a mess
                              -Compress them easily with a vise
                              -Bolt it back up

                              This works great... until you try to put the fucking bumper back on. With the bumper tucked, there's no clearance to get at the bolts that hold the bumper on. So I had to extend the shocks back out, bolt it up, and tuck it again. Such a waste. Just drill them on the car.

                                you have to get creative. i modified the bumper so that even with my bumpers tucked i can undo the bolts, and have the front bumper off in about 2 min. then i can just shackle onto my bumper shocks in case of a tow. this is my plan since with a late model front valance, there are no tow hooks.
