Doing all the prep work, then taking the car to paint?

Has anyone done this? Gotten their car 100% ready for paint then had it painted at a good body shop? how much did it run you? I was also thinking I could rent a spray gun, but i would rather have the pros do this

I have done 4 cars like that, came out great every time.

However, since all the money (read PROFIT) is in the prep, good luck finding a shop these days that will let that fly...especially if you expect a warranty!

What He said... Most places wont cover the paint and body work if you do all the work. You could look around and see if any local shops will rent there booth out.
I know I dont have the money to do a full spray all at once so Im doing it in stages.
I actually just got my doors and trunk back from the body shop today. Cost me 350 to get body work done and under primer. Next I will do fenders, hood and bumpers. Then save and have them all shot at once.
