Yes, vulva lips are gross. But they're only 10 bucks. So, I flipped that shizz upside down. The opening isn't on the bottom like an iS, but the geometry of the sides flows way better with the valance in my opinion. It looks like Darth Vader's fucking helmet when mounted like everyone else does.

Now that actually looks really, really good. That little opening being at the top actually kind of plays off of the other 2 that are in the valance. No one would ever know that wasn't the lip that actually goes there. What I really like about it is that it's like an i lip, just a little deeper. Could it be shaved so that the opening wasn't actually there anymore at all? I like my i lip, but it's not tall enough.

Thanks for the props, but I have to give credit to my boy who preferred this configuration when he dressed up his iX. The second I saw his, we went back to the pull-a-part and grabbed one for my ride. The lip material is very flexible so I centered it, marked the E30 valance tab locations (fog light mounts, etc.) and cut reliefs into the mounting face lip. I had to do a little E30 valance grinding as well. Then I used a ghetto army of clamps to hold half of it in place, and ran #8 stainless self-tappers through the original vulva mount face into the E30. So, getting to your question about shaving it down, I think shaving it would remove most of the mounting face, and mounting options would be slim. Funny you mention the height, that's the best feature I think.

              Looks great!
There's a reason why some people hate a nice well-done Volvo lip on E30, because it's damn cheap, which makes them somehow feel "robbed" because they spend $$$ on OEM iS lip ;)

No, most people hate them because they look fucking stupid when they're mounted the way everyone does it. The way it's mounted there looks good.

Jeff, would you mind getting a few close-up shots, a few different angles, and maybe from the front?

I'll get some shots this weekend and post them for youse guys. I work 2 jobs, and try to maintain a piece of shit house, so I'm pretty busy. Yesterday was basement flooding rain. This morning, the furnace won't stay on for more than a minute....

Thanks, effinslo. I'm not sure which model Volvo it comes from.. I have to get two more for our other E30s, and one of them I'll be doing with the valance off. I'll document that one fully if you guys want.

I found a pic I took while comparing the Volvo lips side-by-side in both mounting configurations with the kid's iX. It's a bit washed out, but I think it shows fairly clearly the differences.
