    Stupid Grill question..

I've searched and i've searched, but i cannot find the answer to this. There are two types of kidney grills, one with open slats all the way up, and one with the top 1/3 blocked off. I know it has something to do with the AC, but which grill is which, and what exactly is the purpose?

Nope. The blocked one is for NON ac equipped cars. The one that is open is for AC equipped cars. That simple, AC cars need more space to allow more air flow.

You also have a 318i M10 a engine that has plenty of thermal reserve. The don't have the cooling issues.

But That is the way they normally are.
