    Mirror Paint Question

I am painting the mirrors on the car this weekend. I am staying with the same color of the car... brillantrot...

Not worried about removing the mirror from the car, I am just going to blanket the car with newspaper and a bunch of tape!:D

Do I need to worry about spraying with some sort of plastic adhesion?

My plans are to just rough up the color on the car now (faded to near pink) and paint over it... but I do not want to paint these again in a few months because I cut a corner somewhere...

    Any ideas?

FYI... I am a paint newb

No you don't need plastic adhesion, and why not take them off the car to paint them? It takes minutes to pull em and would make the job 100 times easier.

I am concerned about pulling them off the car. I could not find a write up and the inside tweeter trim is one thing I do not want to replace... unless you know where a good write up is or have good tips on removing the tweeter panel...

the bmw diy link I found talked more about mirror disassembly...

I would also suggest removing them, its pretty easy and would look much better when painted (no tape lines).

There are 2 clips that hold it in. As long as you pull it straight out you shouldnt have a problem breaking it. I used 2 flat head screwdrivers on both sides and evenly pried it off with the window open. After that, its 2 10mm bolts and a wire connector.

I wouldnt worry about plastic adhesion unless your sanding them down to bare plastic.

        Thanks,
        Nick
