    hood adustment that works

finally got my hood to sit right
this may be old, could nt find in search, asked here and bimmer forum for help, but advice was not helping
but this is how I did it that worked

    remove grilles ( not kidney)
loosen all bolts on hood and hood catch
( but not the ones on hood torsion bar to frame had already adjusted them to their lowest nose down position)
make sure bumps stops are all the way down
    lower hood
have an assistant ( my wife) hld down adn in place ( side to side, front to back and down)
tighten the two hood blots you can reach and the hood catch
slowly lift hood tighten remainder of bolts
doble check, adjust hood rubber bumps in front
reinstll grilles ( needed them out so you can reach the one bolt on hood each side)
adjust back roller catches for correct height and fit

    finally

finally got the thing to sit right, after many attempst and several people trying to help

      before and after
the after pic still looks bad, must be angle of camera it does sit flush in front, bows up a little in the middle then back down in rear
and it is an aftermarket hood so I think rest of problem is in that. you can see that the hod just would not sit down, using all th instructions in the books and advice at the froums. ws this way when I got it, but was sitting flush on driver side, just way up on pass side, pic makes it look bigger then it was ( and thats a 318 parts car in the back) if you ned parts let me know, Im ight still have it

        no complaints
but just got a new slave and hose, so we will see
any tricks to bleeding that I should know of that are not obvious bleeding techniques, like do you have to break a hose free at the master to get air out or anything ?
never had a car with a "hidden" master cylinder like these have

WOW! You might have saved me some money! I bought my first e30 few weeks ago and only thing that really bothers me is that my hood didn't fit right (similar to your before pic). I thought the frame was bent and was about to shell out a lot of money to get it straightened but maybe I just need to adjust the hood like you did. Thanks!!
