    Mounting IS side skirts?

    Yes, I did search.

I know where to get hardware, ettc etc.

but I dont get how to mount them on my 318is, because the car doesnt have the little rivets in the rockers both under the rockers, and the holes, for the clips to attach to?

Anyone else run into this problem?

    Thanks,

searched again, is there any other way to mount the top besides double stick tape?

will the pinching clips work if the bottomof the rocker is flat acroos the entire span, with no notches to fit?

You need to drill the holes and install the little plastic gromits into the rockers. Once you do that, everything will clip in with factory harware/clips.

You're not supposed to use any tape.

have you drilled it? care to share some tips on how to drill it? its near impossible to line up right without template. Even Vlad taped it.

Yes, I drilled it and used all of the factory grommets and clips. I did a lot of measuring (distance between mounting holes, distance from the top of the skirt...) and then marked where I needed to drill. I drilled the holes and inserted those little green grommets. I popped the sideskirt into those grommets and then attached the clips on the bottom of the skirts.
            Done.

Just take your time and measure everything. My brother mounted his skirts on his last car, but he was too lazy to measure anything so he just eyeballed it all. His didn't fit as good as mine.

Really? Didn't know that. I don't see why he didn't mount it correctly.

Those little green grommets that you insert into the holes keep most of the water out.

how do you measure for an accurate distance for drilling? it seems pretty difficult to find the right spot. It might just be a logical problem I have in my head that I cant wrap around.

I use pins and a strip of sticky tape jsut to try to mark the drill holes after I push up against it, but it seems near impossible to line up right. I need some more detail help here if you are so kind.

yea I have the plastic mounting hardware. Yes, they are expensive as crazy now. They use to be moderately expensive. Now its just ludicrous how much they are selling the little clips on teh bottoms for. .

what about a dab of paint on the mounts, press the skirt onto the car and voila, drilling points marked.

tried it, but its extremely hard to see with the black gritted stuff. I think this woudl be infinitely easier with a lift and its at shoulder or eye level. Its jsut difficult on the ground or on jackstands.

i need to find a better dealer then. @ scottsdale BMW north the "clamps" on the bottom of the rocker covers were $4.68 each at shop cost (you need 10 BTW)

51-71-1-932-996 grommets (the green guys) were $.67 each....not too bad.

51-71-1-929 plugs (the white clips that go into the green grommets) were $3.79 each (ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccc)

take GREEN painters tape put 4 layers on the body where you want to drill the rockers , insert clips into the rockers, line up the rockers, push the rockers into the geeen tape, pull rockers away, mark pin holes from the clips in the tape with marker. drill on marker spot, insert green grommets, install rockers, drive
