    Started: Project Blackout

So yesterday, I finally started on turning the entire outside black. The paint I am using is a combo of the low-grade and high-grade from, ummm they used to be CarQuest. I was gonna go with mid-grade for the smaller stuff but they didnt have something that needed to be mixed with it. The lady said the difference between the mid and low was that the low stayed tacky until it was cleared. So I got a quart of that for $22...lol Thats cheap compared to a half pint of the high grade Fiji Blue Pearl, its $36...lol I havent bought any high-grade yet but I will. Never again will i get that low-grade, I dont like it because it stays shiny(unlike the high which gets dull) so its harder to know whats been cleared and what hasnt been.

For clear I am using transtar(i think) products, its a 4-1 mix ratio, it comes out nice and shiny and dries pretty quick...

    To Do:

    Grilles - DONE
    Roundels - DONE
    Shadowline
    Wheels(basketweaves)
    Bumpers
    IS valence
    Chrome around front and backwindshield
    Tint(windows)
    Tint(tails)
    Tint(head)
    Tint(sidemarkers)
    Tint(fogs)

The wheels and valence will be getting the high-grade paint, everything else will be low...

Nevermind the mismatched HLs...lol...the guy I got the projector from only had one. Im looking to get another now. I wasnt able to see at night with the others, so I threw in a 9006 rebased D2S bulb and its way brighter than both the others...

That looks pretty good. You should paint the metal pieces around the headlights also. Why paint the roundels??

Thx. I painted them because they were faded, the front had zero color and the back had only a little black left. I'm looking for another trunk one because I was unable to break it down enough to make it smooth. And as we all know the black just enhances the cracks. I never thought about the rings around the headlights. I'll look and see, the might get covered with the vht when I do the hls. I also will have to go back and vht the screws for the side markers. Since the fronts don't come out as easy they got sprayed and look much better.

New pix coming shortly. Painted rear bumper and tinted tails and side markers and front blinkers/parking lights.

Okay, so I'm almost done with the painting...

The only update is the front bumper has been painted and both have been tucked...

*ignore that stupid looking exhaust tip...lol*

In those shots you can also see the side markers... I didnt realize that they would be going in that far...lol Now I have to figure out what to do about the front valence, its now out a little further than the bumper...
