    painting rocker panels bodel color?

hi guys i was just wondering if you guys havee done this or if you suggest it i have a white cabrio and think it would look so much better if i painted my rockers. what is the process for this and can i do it myself? also how much did it cost to get yours painted and did the body shop sand them real nice so they were smooth as opposed to textured like they are now? thanks.

On a white car, I'd stay with black rockers. Too much white can be a bad thing.

your rockers are already painted body color, they are just covered with a rubberized paint. you can remove it and it is body color underneath, i did.

Anybody have insight as to the best method for removing the rubberized paint that will leave the body color underneath unharmed?

Pretty sure if you do anything, it will damage the paint underneith. Most people either grind it off or sand it off.

                        body schutz

The rubberized texture is called "body schutz" and it should be the first layer. It can be painted over or patched and you can still keep its benefits. Its good stuff if the metal underneath is healthy

Is it better to paint over it than to remove it and then paint? I read that the rubberized stuff is a good shield against the elements. It's just not very pretty...

Yes, it should stay and can be painted over if there are no rust issues at the rocker
