Previously repainted door. Strip or don't strip?

I have a door that has been repainted. It was most likely scuffed and shot. There is a good amount of build on the paint, and it isn't flaking or anything like that. There is quite a lot of paint buildup on the door edges.

I only need to repaint the door. Should I

    1. Strip it down to bare metal (and unearth layers of filler and old paint), epoxy prime, block, and shoot, OR
    2. Just block sand to get a flat surface (especially the door edges), seal it, and shoot it?

    Thanks.

I'd go for option 2 if your happy the previous paint is well stuck.

Yeah, the paint has good adhesion as far as I can tell. It just looks thick, so the body lines aren't as defined as they were before. I think a decent sanding should be able to bring them back, though.
