coupe doors - early and late the same?

Gotta replace the driver's door on my '87 project. I have a good door from an '88. Is there anything at all different from the early models?

    btw, I searched the forums.

I'm also curious about early to late fenders. And whether or not to build a 327i or swap in an m50, but i digress...

fenders are pretty much the same, slightly different...doesnt really make a difference, you cant see where theyre diffrent because the bumper will cover it..

doors are the same, window regulators are not.

and swap in a m50, its cheaper, and more reliable power.

The window regluators are different, and the glass has mounting that either corresponds to a late-model regulator or an early-model regulator.

          Late-model:

          Early model:

          '89 325i track sloot
          '01 530i daily

Is it possible to mount an old regulator in a new style door or is it possible to just plug and play with the new style door and regulator?
