    How to Salvage this Paint?

    Hello all,

Looking at this hood, what do you recommend to restore it to glory? Could I use a light swirl remover and clay bar to get that murkiness out or do I need to go to an abrasive compound?

Any input on how to approach this is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

try a clay bar if its just murky shit or something. But that might not work if it's tree sap.

There is tree sap and leaf outlines. I'm fairly sure I'll need more than a simple clay. Just not sure if I need a heavy abrasive compound or just a lighter polish.

it also looks like your clearcoat has either failed or is about to.

You need a random orbital polisher at a minimum. Rotary i better, but is also easy to damage paint with.

Assuming you get a Porter Cable orbital, Meguiar's M105 is pretty freaking awesome for cutting through crap. Follow it up with Menzerna Final Polish.

            This: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...and+wax+kit.do

I compiled my own "kit" with a real Porter-Cable, but you can do what you want. However, if the the clearcoat is cracked/flaking don't expect anything to save it.
