Front door glass issue-2door..

Working on late model-89


I'm working with a bodyshop to have glass put into the front two doors. We're having a difficult time finding glass that will fit, or they are just incompetent monkeys. I'm just looking for facts regarding front door glass and the components along with it.

The glass delivered came out of an 88. He claimed that the tracks on my old shattered glass were longer then the ones delivered, and that is where the problem arises. He said if I had different actuators (the correct ones for a late model car) then it would work. If this is true, does that mean I have early model window components on my 89? If so, would late model 2door glass and late model actuators work with the early model electric window contraption thingie.

Early model power window regulators look like a big "S" on its side in the door. It is an actual track, the glass that fits these regulators has a track at the front which slides over a wheel on the regulator and a plate at the back which bolts to a plate on the regulator.

Late model regulators look like a big pair of scissors in your door. These regulators use glass that has tracks at the front and rear of the glass which both slide over wheels on the regulator.

The type of glass must match the regulator they are not interchangable. Not sure if that makes sense or helps, post up some pictures of your glass and the inside of your door if you can.

Jean- I talked to the white325is, the guy in willamsport pa who shipped the first pair to me, he mentioned the scissor type glass having a full track from one end to the other? I'm looking at the glass he sent now, and the shape is also a little different the the one you have pictured. Yours was from a 2door, correct?

Yes 89 2door plastic bumper car. What you see above is exactly how they came out of my car.
